Texas A&M University Agricultural Mechanics Camp (AMC)
AMC is a camp experience being held as a part of a grant funded project with the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. This
camp is designed to focus on 15 agriculture mechanics students in hopes of refining their skills and discussing with them
the potential career of being an agriculture mechanics teacher.
The 1st ever session of the camp will be held May 31 – June 3, 2024, on the Texas A&M University Campus. A draft schedule is included in this packet.
Student Qualifications:
• Have not attended before
• Entering their Junior or Senior year of high school (Currently Sophomore or Junior)
• Current Seniors may apply but are not guaranteed a place in the camp. Priority will go to students entering their
Junior of Senior year of high school
• Have completed at least 2 years of agricultural mechanics instruction with a grade of “B” or better (high school or
community college courses)
• Possess traits (caring, organized, self-starter, trustworthy) which you believe to be suited for a career in
agricultural education
• Be able to attend the camp for the duration
• Must turn 16 on or before May 31, 2024
Camp $100 Registration Fee Includes ($2000 value):
• Housing at Texas A&M University
• Meals beginning with dinner May 31 and concluding with breakfast June 3
• Recreational Activities
• Camp T-Shirt & Camp Hat
• Miscellaneous tools and PPE necessary to complete tasks

Each program, with an Agriculture Mechanics Pathway, can submit up to 3 applications. Selections will be made by a committee consisting of members of the Texas A&M University ALEC Department. Camp attendees will be announced by April 19th
. Selected attendees will be contacted via email regarding their
acceptance into the camp and the completion of additional forms for camp admission.
