___________________________________________________________________________________________________

The AP English Language and Composition course cultivates the reading and writing skills that students need for college success and for intellectually responsible civic engagement.  The course guides students in becoming flexible, reflective writers of texts addressed to diverse audiences for diverse purposes. The reading and writing students do in the course should deepen and expand their understanding of how written language functions rhetorically: to communicate writers’ intentions and elicit readers’ responses in particular situations

Dear Parents,

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn with your child in my class this year. I love to read, write, think, and learn. My hope is that through critical reading, robust dialogue, and analytical writing your child grows his/her love for thinking and learning and together we grow our abilities to constructively contribute to civil discourse. Our course content and schedule are available for your review through the syllabus linked above. We will adapt and revise as we progress based on students' interests and levels of mastery.

If at any time you are concerned about the content or rigor of the course or your child's levels of performance, please reach out to me. My aim is to lead and support for growth and support. To help me in these efforts, I do ask that you complete the information available in the form linked below to share some insights about your child and your aspirations for his/her learning through this course for the 2022-2023 school year.
